A new fraudulent scheme was uncovered in Russia, which may become a threat to the citizens of Kazakhstan. The scammers send SMS messages asking you to call back to the indicated number. The reason for the call may be completely different, but they all have the same goal – to lure a person into a trap.
For example, attackers may claim that your loved one is in trouble and urgently needs a conversation. Another option is to notify about alleged changes in communication tariffs that require immediate intervention. There are also reports of issues with the bank card that need to be resolved immediately.
When a person calls back to the indicated number, the scammers begin to stall for time, creating the illusion of an important and lengthy conversation. At this time, funds are debited because the number belongs to a paid service. The cost of the call is hidden, and people lose significant amounts without suspicion.
Eurasian Bank urges everyone to be especially careful when receiving suspicious messages. Never call back to unfamiliar numbers – it will save you from losing money and nerves.
