Saturday is the Ultimate Shopping Day: When Kazakhstanis Spend the Most
Saturday is the Ultimate Shopping Day: When Kazakhstanis Spend the Most

The financial behavior of Kazakhstanis follows a distinct rhythm. Eurasian Bank analyzed customer transactions, revealing a highly intriguing pattern.

Saturday has emerged as the highest-spending day of the week, with the average receipt reaching 8,300 tenge. In terms of overall spending volume, Saturday confidently leads the entire week. On the whole, the average weekend receipt surpasses weekday spending by 3%.

The weekend isn’t the only time Kazakhstanis open their wallets. Tuesdays and Thursdays follow closely behind, with average receipts of around 7,800 tenge securing the second and third places — proving that Kazakhstanis know how to spend midweek as well. In stark contrast to Saturday, Monday stands as the most economical day of the week.

Supermarkets and grocery stores take the crown in spending volume, logging over 2 million transactions. Restaurants follow with nearly 200, 000 transactions, alongside fast-food outlets at over 163, 000. Clothing stores close out the top ranks with more than 26, 000 transactions. Saturday is the day when Kazakhstanis simultaneously stock the fridge, dine out, and refresh their wardrobes.

Lately, the nighttime has also turned into peak shopping hours. More than 8% of all purchases -or every twelfth transaction - take place while most people are asleep. However, daytime has its own peak: 5 PM marks the moment when the workday winds down, and Kazakhstanis drop by shops, cafés, or log onto delivery apps on their way home.

A significant portion of this activity, especially during evening and nighttime hours, is driven by delivery services. Today, nearly half of Kazakhstanis (48.1%) regularly pay for the delivery of food, groceries, clothing, and electronics. This is no longer an occasional convenience, but an essential part of comfortable living that has become the new norm.
