Eurasian Bank Team Recognized Strongest in Cybersecurity Competition

5 May 2025, Almaty

The Eurasian Bank information security service team took first place in the Military CTF: Digital Fortress large-scale cyber security tournament, held at the Arystan Specialized Lyceum.

The competition united representatives of the IT-industry, students in technical majors, cadets of military departments and future officers. The participants had to solve 25 practical tasks that were close to real cyberincidents: hacking secure systems, cryptography, network traffic analysis, forensics, web app protection and vulnerability search.

“Today, every company, be it a defense structure or a bank, is facing new digital threats, and to effectively counter them, it is important to have a team of experts ready to respond quickly. Such tournaments help us share experiences, monitor new protection methods, and strengthen our efforts to ensure customer safety. We are grateful to the organizers of the tournament, the Arystan Lyceum and the Military Department of Astana IT University, for creating a unique platform for the exchange of knowledge and practical skills,” said Erkin Rustamov, Director of the Eurasian Bank’s Information Security Service.

Eurasian Bank’s participation in such tournaments is not only a contribution to the development of the Bank’s young specialists and educational initiative support, but also an important element of its own cybersecurity strategy. Protecting personal data, customer financial assets, and ensuring the sustainability of digital infrastructure require continuous improvement of skills and exchange of experience.

“The tasks ranged from medium to high difficulty, but thanks to our training and teamwork, we successfully completed them. The tournament was an excellent opportunity not only to enhance cybersecurity skills, but also to gain valuable experience that we can apply in our daily work,” Zhansaya Kairkhan, Chief Expert of the IT Security Monitoring and Control Unit, shared her impressions.

The organizers note that the cybersecurity competitions became an important milestone in the training of the country’s defenders, and they need to be given the best tools to protect the state. They plan to hold these tournaments on a regular basis in the future.
