In recent weeks, law enforcement agencies have recorded an increase in fraudulent schemes aimed at gaining access to personal data and bank accounts of citizens. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the attackers use malicious links and psychological pressure, creating a sense of urgency and threat.
Eurasian Bank urges customers to remain vigilant and reminds them of the basic rules of financial security.

What schemes are used
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and regional police departments, fraudsters:

• represent themselves as employees of telecom operators, public utilities or government services and send links via messengers to “update data” or “activate discounts”;
• send “urgent” SMS messages on behalf of well-known platforms, including Uchet.kz and Qoldau.kz to access the accounts;
• require you to dictate SMS codes, ostensibly for registration under the new rules of financial monitoring;
• mislead citizens under the pretext of employment in large companies;
• use a scheme with courier “delivery” of equipment through taxi services, convincing them to pay for the goods in advance.

In one of the cases, according to the Aktobe Region Police, the damage to the victim exceeded 12 million tenge after sending the fraudsters an SMS code and following their instructions.

What to look out for
Signs of a device infection with malicious software may include:

• strong heating of the smartphone,
• spontaneous screen lock,
• loss of response to commands.

In such situations, law enforcement agencies recommend immediately disconnecting the device from the Internet and contacting the Bank to block accounts and cards.

Important to remember

• Official organizations do not request SMS codes, passwords, or card details over the phone or via messengers.
• Government and financial structures do not require urgent transfers of funds “to protect the account”.
• Any messages with pressure and limited time for “confirmation” are a reason to interrupt communication.
