Investment-related fraud cases become more frequent in Kazakhstan. Scammers promise guaranteed income through access to “secret” earning strategies. However, in reality, victims lose money, and sometimes they take out loans hoping for an easy profit.

How to identify scammers?

Most often, scammers use several key techniques:

• Manipulation. They may call you with an urgent offer to invest money, otherwise the “unique chance” will be missed.
• Guaranteed profit without risk. There is no 100% guarantee of income in investments. If you are promised risk–free investments, this is a clear sign of fraud.
• Lack of transparent information. If a company does not have a license, an official website, a legal address, and real reviews, cooperation with it is extremely dangerous.
• Requests to transfer money to questionable accounts. Scammers ask you to send funds to personal cards, crypto wallets, or accounts with unknown banks.

Easy earnings – severe consequences

Recently, a 55-year-old resident of the Akmola Region became a victim of fraudsters, believing in the possibility of quick earnings. For the sake of investments, he issued a loan for 6 million tenge, but he never returned the money – the funds went into the hands of scammers.

This case shows how serious the issue is.

How to protect yourself?

• Check the information. Before investing money, make sure that the company has a license. You can find the list of official brokers at the ARDFM website.
• Do not succumb to pressure. If you are told that you need to invest money urgently in order not to miss the chance, this is a reason to be wary.
• Do not take out loans for investments. If you are persuaded to apply for a loan for investments, this is one hundred percent fraud.
• Do not believe the Internet ads. Many scammers actively promote their schemes through social networks and messengers.
