Currently, unreliable information on allegedly coming sharp tenge depreciation, single currency introduction and shortage of coins in circulation is being actively disseminated among instant messengers and social networks users. This information is clearly provocative and not true.
The Association of Financiers of Kazakhstan (hereinafter – the AFK) on a monthly basis conducts a study of the tenge exchange rate expectations within the professional community. According to current expert estimates, at the moment there are no fundamental grounds for the national currency depreciation. The expert community expects an exchange rate close to the current one during the month, namely, 384-385 tenge for a US Dollar, taking into account the stable economic situation.
As for the rumor concerning the Altyn single currency introduction within the EAEU territory, there is no ground for that. The EAEU agreement does not provide for creating a single monetary union and introducing a single currency.
Regarding shortage of coins, it should be noted that currently second-tier banks are provided with all coin denominations in amounts sufficient for customer service.
The AFK and financial market participants strongly urge not to believe rumors spread in the information space and not to take part in circulating them.
