Scammers are becoming more creative: three schemes that everyone should know about

Phone, the Internet, and even a school diary — scammers use any excuse and channels to gain access to your money. Eurasian Bank warns of new fraud schemes and urges customers to be more vigilant.

Scheme 1: “You are being saved from scammers”

The fraudster calls ostensibly on behalf of the bank or the police and informs them that they are trying to apply for a loan or an investigation is underway. Then he suddenly interrupts the conversation, allegedly for technical reasons. At this moment, the answering machine turns on: “The call was interrupted by the police. Fraud attempt detected. Please call the number from the SMS”. After that, the victim calls back and ends up with the same scammers, only now they introduce themselves as “rescuers”. Then there is the standard scheme: convincing conversations, a request to transfer personal data and transfer money to a “secure account”.

Scheme 2: Fake websites of credit institutions

Fraudsters create fake websites of credit institutions that are visually indistinguishable from the official pages of credit institutions. At such resources, you can enter your details, thinking that you are on a real site, and transfer everything to the scammers. Pay attention to the URL: it must start with https:// and not contain substituted characters (for example, “0” instead of “o”, “1” instead of “l”).

Scheme 3: An electronic diary as an excuse to steal money

Fraudsters call schoolchildren and introduce themselves as school staff. The reason is that you allegedly need to reinstall the electronic diary. The teenager is asked to dictate the code from his parents’ phone and not tell them anything. Then there is the intimidation of data leaks and persuasion to apply for loans in the name of parents “to save money”. So in a matter of minutes, the family risks incurring serious financial losses.

Eurasian Bank reminds you: at the slightest suspicion, immediately inform the police and the bank.
